Caprese salad (Insalata Caprese) is a classic Italian dish originating from Capri. Known for its simplicity, it features fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and a sprinkle of salt. Ingredients

  • 3 medium Ripe tomatoes Heirloom or roma tomatoes or even cherry tomatoes for modern twist
  • 250 g Fresh Mozarella
  • Fresh Basil leaves
  • 25 ml Olive oil
  • 5 ml Balsamic glaze optional
  • As required Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into even rounds, about ¼-inch thick.
    3 medium Ripe tomatoes, 250 g Fresh Mozarella
  • On a serving plate, alternate tomato and mozzarella slices. Tuck basil leaves between the layers. Or in a bowl just mix them all for an quickie.

  • Sprinkle the salad with salt and pepper. Drizzle generously with olive oil.
    25 ml Olive oil, As required Salt and pepper
  • Add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a touch of sweetness and tang.
    5 ml Balsamic glaze
