Cream cheese frosting recipe

  • 8 oz 225g cold cream cheese
  • ½ cup 115g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups 240g powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt balances sweetness!

Instructions

  • Beat the butter – In a bowl, beat softened butter for 1-2 minutes until creamy and pale.
  • Add the cold cream cheese – Beat on low speed just until combined (don’t overmix!).
  • Sift in powdered sugar – Add gradually while beating on low.
  • Add vanilla & salt – Mix until smooth and fluffy.
  • Chill for 10-15 minutes before using if needed!

Notes

✔️ Use cold cream cheese for a thick, pipeable texture.
✔️ Sift powdered sugar to avoid lumps.
✔️ Chill for 10-15 minutes if frosting is too soft.
✔️ For a stiffer frosting, add ¼ cup more powdered sugar.
✔️ Avoid overbeating, or it may turn runny.
