How to make French pan cakes ?

Pan cakes or thick crepes, or flatjak are from French made from milk, butter, refined flour, eggs, sugar, and mixed and cook in pan and served with honey, fruits , etc.

Ingredients

  • 120 g Refined flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 120 ml Milk
  • 1 no Egg
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 5 ml Vanilla essence
  • 50 g Butter
  • 50 g Fresh Cream
  • 3 g Salt

Instructions

  • In a bowl add refined flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and mix well and sieve them.
  • Add egg, melted butter, vanilla essence, fresh cooking cream and whisk it to string consistency without any lumps.
  • Strain the mixture to avoid any lumps. Rest the batter for 15 minutes to 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Heat a non stick pan or tawa, apply butter and once heated up add a ladle full of batter in pan.
  • Cook for 2 minutes in each side and serve hot with honey or fruits.

Notes

Adding cream brings rich flavor and milk brings softness to the pan cake. 
You can add any flavorings in the batter by replacing the cream or reduce milk and make pan cakes.
Using non stick pan will be more comfortable. you can also use grill pan for marks, pan cakes maker etc.
Resting the batter helps in softer pancakes.
